Tips to Track Calories on The Go

Establishing and maintaining a calorie deficit is essential to losing weight, but it can be very hard to fit calorie counting into your busy lifestyle. Hard, but not impossible. Here are some tips to help you get it done.

Use Your Smartphone

You know you’re going to have your smartphone out at some time during the meal. You might be checking your email, finding out where your next meeting is, or killing time on social media. There are many great apps for tracking calories, often with very simple interfaces that let you put in the information quickly.

Get a Receipt

Another good way to fit calorie tracking into a daily routine is to get a receipt for everything you eat over the course of the day. Put those receipts in a certain area of your billfold. At the end of the day, you can log all the calories as you decompress with a glass of wine (and don’t forget to log your alcohol calories, too!)

Log It before You Eat It

It isn’t the time of logging that’s the major obstacle to getting it done. It’s the hectic nature of our life and how we’re constantly being dragged on to the next thing. By simply establishing a routine where you log food before you eat it, you reduce the odds that you’re going to end up being pulled off to your next activity. This is also very useful for bag lunches. Log the calories when you’re packing your lunch.

Log It in Your Car

When you’re on the go, your car is often your base of operations. This makes it the ideal place to log your calories. Make it your routine that every time you get in your car, you have to log calories consumed at the last stop, and before you get out, log the calories you ate in the car. Have a notebook or sticky pad on the dash of your car for recording the information or use your smartphone.

Don’t Forget the Snacks!

One of the biggest obstacles of tracking calories on the go is that many of your calories will be composed of little snacks and treats consumed on the way to somewhere. Don’t let these snacks go by without being logged.

Although it’s a challenge, weight loss is possible, even if you’re on the go. If you are looking for help achieving your weight loss goals, please contact Med-Fit Medical Weight Loss Clinic in Denver.
